The William Clark Market House Museum appreciates the many artifacts that have been given by supportive friends and patrons over the past 50 years!

We strive to offer, for public viewing, articles and exhibits that relate solely to the city of Paducah and its admirable history. If the Museum did not enjoy the support of generous donors like you, we would not have so many wonderful exhibits and individual items for viewing.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and your gifts are tax deductible.

In order to maintain our mission of collecting, cataloging and displaying unique artifacts of Paducah history, the Market House Museum follows a comprehensive Museum Collections Policy that states we endeavor to follow certain checkpoints concerning subject and artifact material and contents.

We do not accept things just because they are old or interesting: we endeavor to accept artifacts with a tangible connection to Paducah or its history. The article offered up for consideration must relate to Paducah or the many persons who lived in our city, as well as those who have contributed to the town’s daily life, prominent businesses or notable events of the same. For this reason, each artifact that is considered for adoption is carefully screened for its connection to Paducah.

If an article does not meet our advisory guidelines we will be happy to provide suggestions for other venues that might work better for your needs, such as other museums in our area.

We can discuss the transfer of artifacts by telephone or in-person, and explain how our Deed of Gift policy can work to benefit both the donor and the acceptor, in this case, the Museum.

Artifacts and Exhibit Collections are displayed in the museum on a rotational basis.

We also maintain offsite controlled climate storage for the exhibits and artifacts that belong to the Museum which are not currently on display. These collections are securely and safely stored. Our collections are fully insured, though we fully consider our assets as priceless.

If you have any questions about donating an artifact or small collection, please contact us, and ask to speak to the Executive Director. We appreciate our supporters and patrons, and will endeavor to do justice to preserve and share with the public, the artifacts that come into our collections.
